Tours and Creative Workshops at Slovak Folk Majolica

Discover the ancient beauty of traditional folk craftsmanship. We offer you a unique opportunity to peek behind the scenes of the largest and oldest traditional ceramic workshop in Slovakia. Modra majolica and its ornamental design are inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovakia.

Saturday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Individually by appointment

Reserve your spot at +421 911 980 105 or via Facebook or Instagram. Groups of more than 5 people can arrange a time that suits them. We will deliver your ceramics after firing.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Traditional pottery production with master ceramicists — all handmade, shaped on the wheel, glazed, and painted.
  • Spacious premises — we will guide you through the entire production process, including viewing large tunnel kilns from the 1970s.
  • An exhibition of current majolica masters and century-old pattern books by master Heřman Landsfeld, a founding figure in Slovak and Czech ceramics.

We’ll create a tailor-made program for children, kindergartens, companies, teambuildings, international guests, students, seniors, families, and individual visitors. You can also combine your visit with other activities in Modra, such as the Ľudovít Štúr Museum (SNM), the Museum of Slovak Ceramic Sculpture, the Gallery of National Artist Ignác Bizmayer.

The Production Tour Includes:
An introduction at the foundation stone from 1973, a tour of the workshops with expert commentary on pottery production and traditional ornaments, a demonstration by master ceramicists, a short documentary film, and an exhibition of majolica and rare sample books (45 minutes).

The Experience Tour (tour + creative workshop) includes the full production tour followed by hands-on creative activity. Together we’ll try painting on raw glaze — the same technique used by our masters to decorate majolica. Your works will be fired, delivered, and become a lasting keepsake (90 minutes).

The maximum number of visitors is approximately 50 people. Groups over 20 (e.g., a full bus) will be divided into smaller groups that can rotate, and we’ll adjust the program accordingly. The tour date must be arranged in advance. A 50% surcharge applies for services during holidays or outside of regular working hours.
